As if we needed more reason to be pumped as heck for The Lion King, Beyoncé has decided to grace the public with her presence while promoting the Disney remake. Is that even fair to the other movies coming out this year? Not only did she shove everyone else off the red carpet with her sheer existence (we might be exaggerating a smidge), she added a single drop, just to remind us that she’s the best at everything always.
“Spirit” is the first new song off the specially Beyoncé-curated new Lion King soundtrack set to come out July 19, the same day as the movie. The new album, aptly entitled The Lion King: The Gift, will feature tracks from the star-studded cast (like the Donald Glover/Beyoncé version of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”) as well as other songs that are a “mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound [and are] influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat,” according to a statement from Bey.
Yep, we can definitely hear the spirit calling. And her name is Queen Bey.
Of course, it takes more than one woman to make a movie and Beyoncé was joined by fellow cast members on the carpet Tuesday night as well as other A-list supporters and her former Destiny’s Child besties. Check out all the looks below.
Beyoncé dominated the ‘Lion King’ red carpet then released a single for good measure
BeyoncéWhy yes, this is bespoke crystal Alexander McQueen, thanks for asking. We’d like to thank Beyoncé for all she’s done for us in the past 24 hours. We are eternally grateful. Kevin Winter/Getty Images
Beyoncé and Blue IvyAs Blue gets older, it’s evident Mama Bey is grooming her daughter to one day rule in her place. The two wore matching outfits and honestly, we’re speechless. Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images for Disney
Donald GloverIf it isn’t the onscreen Simba to Beyoncé’s Nala. Childish Gambino can be a dapper man when he wants to be and last night, he clearly wanted to be. We’re getting "1960s dad at the summer picnic” but in a cool way (yes that’s apparently possible). ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images
Shahadi Wright and Joseph JD McCraryYoung Nala and Young Simba looked like they were having a blast on the red carpet. Honestly, a red carpet hosted by Disney? We would be too. Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Disney
Seth Rogen and Billy EichnerTimone and Pumba looked like they weren’t having quite as much fun as their adopted lion son and his GF. Either that or Eichner and Rogen are just stunned that Beyoncé is there. Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Disney
Alfre WoodardSimba’s mama was serving all kinds of regal realness at the premiere. Beyoncé may be the star of this red carpet, but Alfre Woodard is its reigning monarch. Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images
Kelly Rowland and Titan WeatherspoonIt was a Destiny’s Child reunion with Kelly Rowland showing up with her extremely fashionable son, Titan. So we guess it was Destiny’s Child and their children. ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images
Michelle WilliamsAnd we have the trifecta! Michelle Williams rounded out the trio by hitting the carpet in this mirrored Atelier Zuhra number that honestly has us thinking of robot cheetahs (but in a good way). Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images
Jamie Foxx and Co.Jamie Foxx’s daughter Annalise and her friends are possibly the most stylish on this carpet in their vintage ‘90s Lion King cartoon t-shirts. If we started rooting around in closets, we could probably find our own old Simba tees from 1994 (and probably some of those plastic dishes, too). ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images
Raven-SymonéRaven is giving us a lesson in “How to Make a Black Outfit Pop 101.” The Sparks Notes version: bold accessories and a bright red lip. Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney
Tiffany HaddishThis is possibly our favourite version of feminine menswear ever. It’s shimmery, fit to the nines and accessorized perfectly. And on top of it all, Tiff’s giving us Zazu vibes with that colour scheme. Wowowowow. Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images
Chloe and Halle BaileyLooks like becoming Disney’s latest princess gets you an automatic invite to their next mega-premiere—and being Beyoncé’s protégé doesn't hurt either. It’s been a week since Halle was cast as Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid and it looks like she’s already begun her princess duties. ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images
Justin Baldoni and MaiyaSpeaking of Disney princesses, it looks like Justin Baldoni’s daughter was repping her own fave on the carpet. It doesn’t hurt that her father looks like a cartoon Disney prince come to life. Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney
Skai JacksonWhile Beyoncé was out in the spotlight, Skai Jackson was quietly doing her thing and slaaaying in the kind of outfit we might have seen Bey rocking in her “I Am… World Tour” era. She looks, in a word, fabulous. We see you Skai. Keep doing what you’re doing. Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images
Yara ShahidiYara’s another up-and-comer who can just keep on keeping on. She took the carpet in a Gucci look we would describe as “Julia-Roberts-at-the-1991-Golden-Globes-with-a-Janelle-Monae-twist.” It’s a high compliment. Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney
Daryl Sabara and Meghan TrainorOkay, we know it’s not “The Leopard King” but Meghan’s bodycon Christian Siriano dress still feels on-theme (and her shoes definitely are). She hit the carpet with hubby Daryl Sabara. We don’t know who’s featuring on the new soundtrack, but could Meghan’s presence on the carpet be a bit of a hint? Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images
