More than two-million Canadians live with a facial difference, from acne to Multiple Sclerosis. This year’s Beyond My Face campaign shines a light on the stereotypes and misconceptions about living with a facial difference.
“The key point for me is that it is a part of me and it is a part of my identity,” Kariym Joachim says in a campaign video. “It is not the entirety of me as a person.”
The newly released campaign video features people with a range of facial differences who highlight the need for better awareness of the every day challenges they encounter. The campaign aims to decrease discrimination and harassment of the facial difference community, and shares 35 stories aimed at building acceptance and understanding.
AboutFace is the only charity in Canada offering support to individuals of every age, with any type facial difference. To learn more, be sure to click on the video above!
