If you’re Justin Bieber and you just turned 21 years old, how do you prove that you’re a real, bonafide grown up? By begging another man via social media to come make fun of you, of course.
That’s the move The Biebs pulled on Monday — a day after his 21st birthday — when he publicly asked funnyman Seth Rogen to come on to his upcoming Roast of Justin Bieber on Comedy.
The Tweet, which has since been deleted, was one of several Bieber unleashed in hopes that Rogen would join Roastmaster Kevin Hart for the special, which airs March 30.
Knowing the singer pushed for Comedy Central to roast him in the first place, we can’t say the move is exactly surprising. The young lad is really stepping up and trying to make the roast one for the masses. After all, everyone remembers Rogen as being one of the best parts of James Franco’s roast in 2013.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though that’s going to happen. Not only did Rogen ignore the tweets, but his people told The Wrap Rogen would be out of town.
As for being “the piece of shit?” Bieber was referring to a Tweet Rogen sent out more than a year ago referencing the Canadian.
Rogen really meant it too. In subsequent interviews with Watch What Happens Live, he called his fellow Canadian “obnoxious” and “ungrateful,” adding that he “puts other people’s lives in danger.”
Then, in an interview with Howard Stern, Rogen recalled meeting Bieber at his request, but then the singer pretended like Rogen actually wanted to meet him.
“He’s a good example of someone who you meet who you think you are going to hate and then you get to hate him as much as you could,” he said.
Too bad, we say. This could have been the perfect opportunity for the pair to put their “roast” beef behind them.
The Roast of Justin Bieber airs Monday, March 30 on Comedy Network.
