There’s been tons of ink spilled about the fact that after a dozen seasons of The Bachelorette (and even more of The Bachelor), the franchise finally debuted its first African American lead with this 13th season summer premiere.

But attorney Rachel Lindsay wasn’t the only reason to tune into the show on Monday night. Because as it turns out, one of the biggest moments came during the commercial break, as Pantene unrolled an ad targeted specifically towards black women.

The ad, which actually first debuted in conjunction with an Empire episode a while back, took social media by storm right away. In it the camera flashes to black women with all sorts of hair and skin tones as they celebrate their locks. “So many wrong things are said about how it grows from our head, but to think that beauty is only sleek or wavy is crazy,” the narrator explains.

Considering most of the beauty ads out there are basically of the cookie-cutter variety, people were quick to celebrate on Twitter.

It looks like other advertisers may want to take note. After all, we all know that when it comes to beauty there’s no one-size fits all. Shouldn’t our commercials aim to showcase the same? Because like the ad says, #StrongIsBeautiful.
