Blac Chyna is no stranger to controversial topics, especially surrounding women and their sexuality. In 2015 she and Amber Rose wore matching outfits with sexist insults written on them to draw attention to slut-shaming. She has been very open about her past career as a stripper, but has stayed mostly silent for the past year, even though we keep getting wind of stories about her difficult pregnancy and relationship with Rob Kardashian.
This week, she appears nude in a spread for Paper magazine, flaunting that baby, her tattoos, her GIANT engagement ring and just generally looking fabulous. While most people are gawking at the nude photo shoot, we should be definitely be focusing on what she had to say in the interview.
Chyna often gets it pretty bad from the media whether it’s judging her or airing out her relationship laundry. Well, she’s got something to say about that. She addressed her feelings toward the obvious double standards women face when it comes to sexuality and what she and Amber were trying to portray with their ‘scandalous’ outfits last year.
“Stripper, slut, ho, all these things people portray us as — we wanted to start a movement, because we’re tired of this double standard where a guy can f*** ten bitches and he’s the man. A woman does it and she’s a ho, she’s a slut. We wanted to push the barrier, to own it.” She tells the magazine.
She also talked about making the decision to star in a reality TV show alongside finance, Rob. It’s all about people getting to know her as a person. We know a lot about what she’s done, but not a lot about who she is.
“I’m excited about fans getting to know me as a person and not as a thing or a face. I’m funny and smart, and they’ll see me as a mom with several businesses just keeping everything together. I’m looking forward to showing my relationship with Rob, our day to day, our struggles and what we’re dealing with, positive and negative.”
“I hope when people think about Blac Chyna, they think of a mogul and entrepreneur, a mother and a badass bitch.”
She just wants to be identified as more than her image and we couldn’t agree more. Let’s talk about what she had to say, not about how her body looks. Let’s talk about her successes as a business woman and a soon-to-be mother. Let’s celebrate all the things women are instead of just one part. Power to ya, Blac Chyna.
