Although it’s hard to believe, the weirdest part about Tom Hanks‘ appearance on The Graham Norton Show this week WASN’T the fact that he showed up with blonde hair and a mustache.

In what could have been a last ditch effort for an ‘Embarassing Dad of the Year’ nomination, Hanks, with a little coaxing from Norton, decided to spontaneously rap for the Brit host and his audience.

Although you may not know it (or have carefully repressed the memory), Hanks actually released a novelty rap single with Dan Aykroyd in 1987 called “City of Crime” for their Dragnet movie. When Norton asked about the song, Hanks immediately started rapping the first verse. And he got a little too into it!

Much like us, Norton and his other guests looked completely stunned while witnessing the performance. Seriously David Walliams, would it kill you to crack a smile?

If for some reason that wasn’t enough ‘Hip Hop Hanks’ for you, check out the music video for “City of Crime” below. How did this ever happen?
