Beyoncé and Jay Z’s oldest daughter Blue Ivy recently celebrated her eighth birthday, and no one was more excited than her grandfather, Mathew Knowles. Bey’s dad and Blue Ivy’s doting grandfather shared a picture of his granddaughter on her birthday on January 7 and gave the internet a new reason to feel old.Little Blue Ivy looks like a big girl in her new birthday pic, complete with an orange off the shoulder shirt, grey skirt with cherries and funky pineapple backpack. The daughter of music royalty looks like a beautiful mix of her parents, with the picture showing the not-so-little Blue smiling at the camera as she stands in front of an orange backdrop. Knowles captioned the photo “Happy Birthday to my beautiful and oldest granddaughter Blue Ivy,” signing off “Love, Papa G.” The image included some special effects, including shooting stars and a birthday banner, because even famous grandparents love their social media filters.

Knowles’ birthday tribute to his granddaughter is the second photo of Blue Ivy that has been publicly shared this month. On January 1, musician Megan Thee Stallion shared two pictures of herself along with fellow Houston native Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy. Taken at a New Year’s Eve party the night before, the black and white photos show Blue Ivy looking much older than fans are used to seeing her, with the youngster debuting straightened hair and a sequined top.

It should come as no surprise that two-year-old twins Sir and Rumi’s big sister is looking older since she’s been growing into her own, including slaying the music industry. In November, she scored her first major industry award thanks to her songwriting credit on mom’s “Brown Skin Girl” single from The Lion King: The Gift album. The song earned the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award at the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards, where it was also nominated for Best Collaboration. Blue Ivy can also be heard singing on the upbeat and inspiring track, which created the viral #BrownSkinGirl challenge that took over social media during the summer of 2019.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Little girl overcome with emotion for surprise Beyonce tickets[/video_embed]When Blue Ivy isn’t in the recording studio or on the red carpet with her parents, she’s happily attending school like any other eight-year-old. Actor Fred Savage, who co-starred with Beyoncé in Austin Powers: Goldmember, revealed this past August that his children attend the same L.A. school as Blue Ivy and he’s seen firsthand that her famous mom and dad are just as involved as any other parent, often dropping off their eldest daughter and volunteering at school events. “All the kids at the end of the year do this big Olympics thing, and [Beyoncé and JAY-Z] are out there having picnics, sitting on the field with a blanket. They’re great parents,” said Savage, adding that he especially loved spotting Jay Z playing peek a boo with his daughter one morning. “It’s amazing to see these titans of art and culture and business, these huge totemic figures just being mom and dad,” he added. “It’s awesome.”Blue Ivy also appeared in her mother’s music video for “Spirit,” the lead single from The Lion King: The Gift, which is much different than how we spent our summer vacation at the age of seven. Blue also walked the red carpet at The Lion King premiere with her mother in matching blazers and sheer sequined skirts, looking like the musical princess that she is, and we're sure her star will continue to rise in 2020.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Meghan Markle shares her secret to being happy[/video_embed]
