We assume we’re not the only one who are very here for Brad Pitt aging into a totally smoking salt-and-pepper fox. One minute, this guy was weirding us out with his strange scraggly beard and the next, he’s blasting into space looking like he took a six-week course at the George Clooney School for Looking Good After 50. In the first trailer for Ad Astra, Pitt’s upcoming sci-fi film, he’s looking quite fine if we do say so ourselves.

In the trailer, Pitt makes a space suit look goooood as he attempts to rescue the planet from some sort of intergalactic threat. If we’re sending someone to space to save us all, Movie Brad Pitt seems like a good bet.

In Ad Astra (the Latin phrase meaning “to the stars”), earth is suffering from freak natural disasters people are calling “the surge” which may turn out to be an alien threat brought on by a project involving “highly classified material that could threaten the entire solar system.” Pitt’s character, Roy McBride is sent to space to locate his long-lost father (played by Tommy Lee Jones) who was commander of the mission and has been missing for years. The film also stars Liv Tyler as McBride’s wife (yes, she’s “the wife” in another space movie) and Donald Sutherland.

This film has already been delayed twice (it was originally supposed to be released in January and then May this year), so it’s got to be good and by the looks of the trailer, we’re in for a treat. We can never have enough space movies and it’s been a long time since we had the privilege of seeing Brad Pitt in a meaty dramatic role.

The internet appears to be pretty excited about it as well.

The first look at the film has inspired comparisons to other recent space odysseys like InterstellarGravity, First Man and even Star Wars but one parallel that’s really sticking is the apparent plot similarities between Ad Astra and Apocalypse Now. The trailer doesn’t reveal a whole lot about Jones’s character, but it certainly seems like we could be dealing with a Colonel Kurtz situation. Along the same vein, we’re crossing our fingers for a brief Harrison Ford cameo too.

Ad Astra is set to hit theatres (for real this time) September 20.
