Even if you didn’t see Room, anyone with working eyeballs could see just how adorably well Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay got along. Even though Brie played his mom, maybe it was due to the fact that she was more like his big sister and the two were simply enjoying the ride of their lives. Up until now they were together, as a team — a unit no one could understand but them.
Room resulted in plenty of great things for its cast and crew — heaps of praise and awards, for both Tremblay and Larson, who most recently won an Oscar for her role — but perhaps the greatest thing that came from the powerful film was the wonderful friendship that blossomed between the two stars.
Larson honoured her friendship with Tremblay, along with everything else the film has brought into their lives, with a photo on Instagram following what she called their “final toast to this film.” They are currently in Japan, seven months after the film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and Brie recalled what they did then.
“28 weeks ago (according to Instagram) @roomthemovie premiered at the #telluridefilmfestival,” she began in her lengthy post. “After the screening @jacobtremblay and I toasted. He had chocolate milk and I had red wine.”
Cut to Larson’s post, which shows she and Tremblay toasting once again, this time his glass is filled with soda, hers with sake.
Brie goes on to talk about how it felt to share the move with the world for the first time, how they picked each other up when times got tough, and just how grateful she was for Jacob — and Room — in her life.
This girl is the real deal. The lovely way she honours her little co-star and the movie that brought them together might be the best thing you’ll read all day. It perfectly encapsulates their relationship and we can’t wait to see how he responds. Because you know we can count on Jacob for a spectacular Instagram reply. Thank YOU, Brie and Jacob, for everything you’ve given us these past several months. We can only hope they find their way into each other’s acting lives again in the future.
