Winter can be tough! It’s cold and gloomy, which begs the question – why aren’t we all wearing more colour to help us get through it?

Stylist Erica Wark highlights four colourful outfits to brighten up even the greyest of winter days.

PRO TIP:  When styling colours that read “summer”, simply pair them with traditional “winter” shades like neutrals. You also want to mix in some heavier fabrics like leather or faux fur and finish off the look with cold-weather accessories like a great pair of ankle boots.

LOOK 1: NEON YELLOW

Neon yellow has been making a statement within the fashion world for a while now and it’s not going anywhere! While it might seem like warm-weather colour, wearing it in heavier fabrics like in a sweater and pairing it with neutrals makes it the perfect pick-me-up shade for winter.

LOOK 2: BRIGHT PINK

Pink is a surprisingly versatile colour and it looks great on everyone. But if wearing a colour like bright pink intimidates you, try wearing it underneath your neutral pieces so it acts as a simple pop of colour.

LOOK 3: RED & TURQUOISE

Red is an amazing power colour to wear all year round, but in the winter, it makes a big statement, especially when paired with turquoise. These colours are a match made in heaven because they’re complementary (i.e., opposite each other) on the colour wheel.

LOOK 4: BRIGHT GREEN

While a deep green is a popular colour choice in the colder months, why not opt for a bright green instead? The heavier fabric of the coat balances the delicate material of the jumpsuit, and the turtleneck underneath provides that extra layer of warmth.
