If anyone had any doubts as to the lasting power of Britney Spears, even years after she became the pop princess phenomenon we still see her as, this news should quash them. Or perhaps just postpone them?
That’s because it seems that Britney Spears is still so huge in one country that one of her upcoming concerts there has now officially postponed an entire election.
Yep, you read that correctly. According to Israel’s oppositional Labour party, its July primary vote is now being pushed because its original July 3 date conflicted with Spears coming to Tel Aviv to perform.
The thinking is that with so much concert traffic, getting out to vote would prove to be hard. Additionally, many of the security resources the party was looking to hire have been booked by Spears’s camp. And so they’ve just decided to push the entire thing by a day to July 4 — a.k.a. Independence Day in the States.
“American independence day has a lot of messages we can take on board,” a spokesperson told a local radio station. “The 4th July suits us very well.”
Spears is also headed to the Philippines and Japan to perform this summer, but hasn’t announced any additional upcoming North American tours. The one-time X Factor judge did extend her Vegas residency show, Britney: Piece of Me at Planet Hollywood back in 2015 though, which means fans can catch her there until at least the end of December, if not longer.
Yup, she’s still got it.
