Don’t mess with Britney Spears because girlfriend is not to be trifled with. Alas, Iggy Azalea messed and now she’s being schooled. Let this be a lesson to all those who think they’re going to get a defenseless kitten when attacking Brit. She not only knows how to take it but she can dish it out. Like a boss.
Iggy took to Twitter and claimed that their latest single, the duet “Pretty Girls” was a flop because of Spears. OK, not in so many words but the implication was there — and that’s how Britney’s fans took it. Iggy threw some softball shade Brit’s way (and denied that shade was ever thrown) but Brit dealt her with a fastball of her own.
Can’t wait to get back to Vegas. So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to… #YouWantAPieceOfMe

And that is how you do that. Classy, masterful, to the point. Not only did it allude to Azalea’s recently cancelled tour, Piece of Me is also the name of Spears’ Las Vegas show (so the double meaning is all kinds of amazing). It all started after Iggy tweeted back to a fan on why “Pretty Girls” bombed. “@rhuancesarr its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured…” Spears’ fans lost it but Azalea kept on going and took it to a gross, unnecessary level. “@ThePopZone my comment is factual, it applies to any song. I dont have to suck the womans a**hole 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls.” Lovely. Iggy did add that she didn’t mean any ill will towards Britney, tweeting “@itsGsusBitch im not attacking anyone. all i said was: i wish we had promoted more but thats out of my control. shes a good friend.” And also, this:
Genuine friends have genuine opinions. Its possible & healthy to have a differing thought without it being bitchy or shade. — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) June 29, 2015
Hmm. Perhaps the shade level of Iggy’s message is debatable but we think it’s safe to say that Britney’s response was the BEST.
