It’s about damn time. Bruno Mars was in the passenger seat of James Corden‘s SUV and the two men didn’t disappoint. In the short history of The Late Late Show‘s “Carpool Karaoke,” we’ve seen some big stars with big personalities and even bigger voices. Lady Gaga was fabulous, Elton John was a treat, the Broadway stars slayed it, and both of Justin Bieber‘s rides were fantastic, but this, THIS was the Carpool Karaoke we were waiting for — and they funked us up. Funked us up real good.

It was a magical journey filled with some of Bruno’s greatest hits which included “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Versace on the Floor,” “If I Knew,” “Uptown Funk” and, of course, his latest, “24K Magic.”

It wasn’t just the songs (though James proved, once again, just how epic his harmonizing skills are). You could easily tell just how much James loves Bruno, and how badly he’s wanted him in his car. If Corden’s giddiness alone wasn’t enough to make you smile, then Bruno’s charm certainly did. The singer was dashing as ever, in silk tops and bottoms, shades and just the right amount of bling. So naturally, Corden did a little costume change of his own to match Mars (think silk threads, matching caps and pinky rings). Combine that with some sexy dance moves (and not-so-sexy, where James is concerned) and the future hit, “Wine and Wet Wipes” and it was truly up there with some of the greatest Carpool Karaokes ever. Sorry, Adele, you just got some stiff competition.
