Buffy Sainte-Marie is a groundbreaking singer-songwriter and the only Indigenous artist to ever win an Academy Award for the classic song “Where We Belong”. Her new biography is an intimate look at her life as a beloved folk icon and activist. Buffy Sainte-Marie: The Authorized Biography was written by Andrea Warner, who joined Buffy on tour and spent more than 60 hours interviewing her to write the book.

The two women recently sat down with Lainey Lui and Cynthia Loyst on The Social to chat about their time spent together, Indigenous representation, breastfeeding on Sesame Street and her fabulous style. Watch the interview in the above video clip.

If you’re in the Toronto area, you can check out Buffy and Andrea’s appearance at the Toronto International Festival of Authors. Ticket information available here.
