Forget fresh floral scents or citrus-inspired sprays. This spring, there’s only one scent burger lovers are gonna call King. Burger King, to be exact.

That’s because the fast food chain plans on bestowing us with what could either be the greatest scent to ever hit Whopper fans, or one of the most elaborate April Fool’s Day jokes in history.

Burger King Japan, home of the Black Burger, announced it will release a burger scent called “Flame-Grilled” for one day only, on Wednesday, April 1. It certainly sounds like a prank, except this wouldn’t be the first time BK has released such a thing. Anyone else remember 2008, when the chain introduced us to “Flame,” the body spray for men?

Anyhow, “Flame-Grilled” will sell for a whopping 5,000 yen (or roughly 52 bucks Canadian). It does come with a free Whopper though, so there’s that. It’s said to smell like beef with all the toppings (mayo, lettuce, onions and tomatoes), along with a whiff of fries. In case you were feeling like a combo, perhaps?

BK has been busy promoting the launch with a pretty comprehensive advertising campaign and a commercial.

Sadly, it doesn’t appear as though Canadians can get in on the meat-smacking goodness just yet, although we could always head to Burger King and sample a Whopper on our own. Who knows, maybe we’ll even leave the place with that lingering scent in our hair. Fifty-two bucks richer.

Would you buy a Burger King scent? Tell us in the comments, below.
