You could say it’s a wedding fit for a king.
Fast-food chain Burger King is providing gifts and covering the wedding expenses for a U.S. couple with a pretty interesting connection to the restaurant. Ever since they were in the fifth grade together, Joel Burger and Ashley King have been known as “Burger-King”. And now they’ve decided to make that old nickname official.
The couple announced their engagement by taking a photo next to a Burger King restaurant and sending it to all of their friends. Even though the woman’s name usually appears first in these engagement scenarios, the couple decided to flip it, just for fun. But the coincidence proved too much for the internet to handle, and soon word of the wedding spread to the King himself. That’s when the company decided to reach out and offer to pay for the couple’s ceremony.
“When we heard about the happy, Burger-King couple, we felt an overwhelming urge to celebrate their upcoming marriage,” Burger King Brand spokesman Eric Hirschhorn told the Mirror. “On so many levels it felt like fate; they found each other and their story found us.”
The nuptials are set to be held on July 17, but there’s only one question remaining:
Are they going to want fries with that?!
