If you don’t live under a boulder, in a cave, or in the depths of the ocean, then you’ve obviously heard that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper put on one hell of a performance at the Oscars. They took to the stage to share what many perceived as an extremely intimate rendition of “Shallow.” And because it was Bradley–and not his A Star is Born character, Jackson Maine–up on that stage with Gaga, many were hoping the stars were happening off-screen as well.

Hold up, though. While it’s true that Gaga recently broke off her engagement to Christian Carino, Bradley is still very much in a relationship with Irina Shayk — who was front and centre, watching the entire thing unfold before her eyes.

Now, if Bradley and Gaga really were flaunting some sort of not-so-secret love affair for the entire world to see, including his partner/mother of his child (not to mention B-Coop’s own mother, who was also there), then we would totally have Irina’s back. Because that would be the work of some serious monsters right there, and we are not here for that crap. But unlike those (us) who found it uncomfortable to watch, Shayk herself was completely unfazed by the steamy duet.

“Irina knows that Bradley and Gaga are artists,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s a nonissue for her. They were in character putting on an Oscar performance.”

In fact, the supermodel was the first to stand and cheer them on. And once Bradley and Cooper returned to their seats during the commercial break, they received another standing ovation from the whole place. Cooper kissed and hugged Shayk, who congratulated Gaga as well.

It was a stellar performance, obviously, and wonderfully produced. But that was the extent of it. Cooper never hid the fact that he was nervous to sing on a stage that big, so it was like he and Gaga were feeding off each other. (Not in that way, gross.) Gaga was there to support Bradley, and he was comforted in knowing she was by his side. They’re not in love or anything. They have a deep appreciation and respect for one another and are closely bonded because of the movie, which, if you recall, was kind of intense. But that’s it. Because if we’re to assume Bradley and Gaga were on the verge of getting a room because of their cozy performance, then what about every other actor who has done a love scene, ever?

Gaga tweeted her thoughts on their performance, and in case you were thinking the singer-actress was some kind of homewrecker, or that Bradley was leaving his girlfriend and the mother of their almost-two-year-old daughter for his co-star, think again.

“True friend and artistic genius.” Nothing more. Let’s put a pin in this one, shall we? Because Gaga is busy anyway, already in the arms of someone else.
