Because the Cambridges know we need something sweet to look at after the rough year that was 2017, they are giving us the gift that keeps on giving: their 2017 Christmas card. That’s right, Christmas has come a week early thanks to the latest family portrait featuring Prince William, Duchess Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Eat your heart out, Kardashians.

The family is matching (but not too matchy-matchy) in blues, as Will and Kate stand behind George and Charlotte. But to be honest, it’s not super-Christmasy. Not that they need to be wearing light-up antlers and ugly sweaters but it’s not particularly festive — especially compared to their outdoorsy 2015 portrait.

Pfft, maybe red and green is for peasants. And it’s not that it’s not a nice photo, because it is. And their smiles are absolutely stunning. It’s just a little blah, especially against the plain white backdrop. Maybe Will and Kate should’ve looked elsewhere for inspiration. Because while Will, Kate, George and Char is blue and cute, Charles and Camilla radiate holiday glamour. And the Christmas tree in the background? Sorry, Cambridges but they get the royal win.

But back to the family of four. They also announced that starting in January (!!!), Charlotte will be attending the Willcocks Nursery School, about a three-minute jaunt from Kensington Palace. It should be noted that George attended Westacre Montessori School nursery in Norfolk, which was close to Anmer Hall. Charlotte’s school is proof the Cambridges are truly planning to call London their home base. We can’t wait for those pics. Here’s hoping they’re a little more fun than this. But, hey, happy family, happy Christmas. We’ll take what we can get.
