If you’ve always wanted to spend your days wandering the halls of Buckingham Palace, becoming a prince or princess may be a long shot. But becoming the latest Communications Assistant for Buckingham Palace on the other hand? Now that’s a job posting worth dusting off your resume for.
The Royal Household has posted a new job listing on LinkedIn for a Communications Assistant. How very commoner of them.
The posting is for a one-year contract as the Royal Household Communications Assistant, with the term running from April 2018 until April 2019. While the job details don’t specifically say you’ll be working with Prince Harry and his bride-to-be Meghan Markle, the timing of the job does coincide with their May wedding. We assume the newlyweds will require assistance to keep the flow of communication about their nuptials running smoothly, as well as help with their post-wedding PR, which will likely include several goodwill trips and possibly a baby announcement. Oh no, are we turning into overbearing grandparents? Meghan and Harry, you take your time.
Describing the Royal Household as a “fast paced and dynamic team,” duties for the new Communications Assistant will include writing press announcements, media briefing notes, updating the palaces’ social media sites, and contributing to feature articles. The new hire will be also be required to attend “Palace engagements, including investitures and garden parties, and provide support as required for off-site engagements.” Translation – finally a chance to wear a fancy English hat.
The Communications Assistant will be traveling throughout the UK as well as overseas, attending Royal engagements at the palace and wherever the royal family requires you to travel.
We can’t believe this job can get even sweeter, but you also get 33 days off and a pension. Yeah, they’re actually going to pay someone to hang out with the royals!
