Everyone knows that two things in life are almost guaranteed to be awesome: chocolate and hamburgers. So what would happen if you took these two things, which are delicious on their own, and combined them?
That seems to be the strategy behind The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro’s newest creation: The Reese PBC Burger.
Topped with onion rings, bacon, and chocolate, this half-pound burger is a true Canadian triple threat. The peanut butter cups are actually infused directly into the meat, with some extra ones added later as toppings. You can get your hands on one right now at any of the restaurant’s locations, all for the cool price of $15.98.
But now for the big question: taste.
Shortly after bringing these burgers into our office, I heard someone remark “something smells good, like poutine or something.” So the burger is definitely pleasing to the nostrils. But when we all brought this succulent, juicy sandwich to our mouths, our reactions were mixed.
“That is not good,” one of our taste testers said. “Definitely not a win.”
“It’s two things that taste good on their own,” another remarked. “But it’s not like the flavours are co-mingling in any positive way.”
We did have one favourable review, but not without the caveat that the burger should be saltier. So it looks like this creation, while amazing in theory, might be a bit of a dud. But if you really had your heart set on trying it, you might find some comfort in knowing our reviews stand in stark contrast to what we’ve been seeing on social media.
