You know your dad (or your kids’ dad) is an awesome dude. He shovels snow like it’s his job (which it kind of is), makes a mean chili, and always puts his family in his number one spot. Heck, he’s a Canadian Dad, the most amazing dad on earth, and you adore him for all that he does for you and/or your brood.
Our admiration for all the Canadian Dads out there is probably why we can’t get enough of the hashtag “CanadianDads” on Instagram. It’s a heartwarming glimpse into our national paternal presence, complete with plaid, Tim Hortons and plenty of snow shovelling. Here are some of our favourite posts.
And remember, we love you, #CanadianDads. Thanks for being awesome.
More than a few of these posts involve snow
Canadian Dad is at home in the white stuff. His wintertime hobbies include skiing and looking like a total boss doing so.
Another great Canadian pastime, tobogganing
Sometimes that means stealing the sled for a quick zip down the hill.
Or, at the very least, pulling kids on a toboggan
But seriously, it’s an excellent mode of transportation in the winter.
And, of course, shovelling
Sometimes with “help” from adult children.
Lot’s of shovelling
With help from a newborn.
He’s a natural teacher
You know, of masculine things like wood chopping in a snowstorm, and that fire is hot.
As well as other more intellectual indoor activities.
His standard uniform is plaid
Which he wears with the confidence formed over decades of practice.
He’s a fan of Timmies
This 4am diaper change is brought to you by Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons, see you in four hours.
The family pet adores him, too
Even if #canadiandad pretends to be indifferent about Spot, you know he secretly loves him back.
And same with the cat. They have a special bond behind closed doors.
They build ice rinks in backyards
Just so their offspring can spend hours perfecting their shot.
He’s laced up more skates than most professional hockey players.
And knows that a hockey stick is a multipurpose tool.
Long walks with his family also rank high on his list of priorities
He knows that fresh air makes for great family time, and encourages the whole brood to get outside together.
Including the dog.
High-five for hikes through the Canadian wilderness!
But mostly, he just loves being a Pa
Thanks for all you do, #CanadianDad.
We couldn’t do it without you.
