By now, you’ve probably heard that Kanye West will be headlining the 2015 Pan Am Games’ closing ceremony in Toronto. Needless to say, people are having a hard time with it. In fact, there’s even a petition going around trying to stop him from performing. (You can sign it right here, if you’re so inclined.)
Their’ greivances are many, not least of which is the fact that he’s not Canadian.
Nor is he particularly Canadian-like, what with his penchant for interrupting people and difficulty apologizing.
Even the mayor’s confused, first calling Kanye “a proud product of our music industry,” then correcting himself on Twitter: “Yeezus, can’t believe I didn’t know Kim Kardashian’s husband wasn’t Canadian!” But people’s issues with Yeezy don’t end there:
His ego also rubs some Canadians the wrong way
Others have more practical concerns
so kanye west is coming to toronto, guess they have to open the skydome so his head will fit inside — Mark Rubello (@MarkRubello) July 15, 2015
Yeezus is apparently worse than Toronto’s traffic (which is saying a lot)
Who knows, maybe this is really all about crowd control
Or maybe everyone just needs to take a chill pill
Kanye is good for you. He’s like a vitamin. Why do u not want vitamins? Take your vitamins. — $cooter daddï (@youngolde) July 16, 2015
