We’re convinced James Corden can do anything, from hosting the best Tony Awards we’ve seen in years to knowing (or having to learn) the lyrics to all the songs he covers in his beloved “Carpool Karaoke” segment on The Late Late Show. With Selena Gomez as his passenger, he probably thought he was in for a pretty harmless ride. Yeah, not so much.

Sure, the pair warbled out some of Selena’s hits like “Same Old Love,” “Hands to Myself,” and “Love You Like a Love Song,” and even paid homage to her pal, Taylor Swift, with a little “Shake It Off” (sadly, no Bieber songs were sung), but it was the non-singing parts of the ride that we’ll remember forever.

Like when they made a “quick” detour to an amusement park where they attempted Roller Coaster Karaoke. Selena wasn’t fazed and kept singing “Come & Get It” while James did his best, but his vocals were constantly interrupted by terrified screams.

If that wasn’t enough, Gomez expertly downed a ginger shot, which Corden struggled to recover from, and then went through the McDonald’s drive-thru, where the employees lost their chill upon seeing Selena. (P.S. Anyone know what combos 6 and 7 are? Just curious; that’s what they ordered.)

They also chatted about finding Gomez a boyfriend (or just a guy in “every port,” according to Corden) as well as James wanting to be a member of Swift’s squad. Because if you can’t ask Taylor herself, why not ask the next best thing, Swift’s OG? And while Taylor and Selena would be crazy to turn him down, the only thing it made us think was how good a T-Swift Carpool Karaoke would be. You hear us, Tay?

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:30 a.m. ET on CTV Two.
