It’s no secret, This Is Us was the show to watch from the 2016-17 schedule. It made an impact and left its mark, not only on the TV landscape but on viewers, week after week. It proved you didn’t need big effects or crazy cliffhangers to captivate audiences but, rather, pure, heart-wrenching emotion to which we could all relate. Every roller-coaster ride Rebecca, Jack, Randall, Kate, Kevin, Beth, Toby and William went on, we were right there with them, along for the ride — whether it was good, bad or devastatingly sad.
Because the stars, producers and writers know how much we connect with the show, they created a video just for us. But be warned, it’ll hit you in all the feels so have a box of tissues handy. That’s right, a BOX.
What starts out as facts — comments on social media; videos of fans showing just how much the drama of the Pearsons affected them — evolves into real-life fans gushing about the characters and their storylines. You know, basically saying everything we’re feeling.
But they have no idea that series stars Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown and Chrissy Metz are listening to them, crying right along with us and, best of all, waiting in the wings to surprise them.
Just as with every episode of the show (except perhaps the season finale, but we digress), you’ll be left blubbering. But we all need a good cry, right? Especially because it’s been so long since we’ve seen our favourite TV family, and we still have a few months to go before they return. Apart from re-watching Season 1 over and over, this is the best thing to fill the void a teeny bit.
This Is Us returns this fall on CTV, but on a new night: Thursdays.
