On Tuesday’s episode of The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV), the second night of the Battle Rounds brought back the celebrity advisers, who seem to know a thing or two about music. We shouldn’t be surprised, but being a great singer and a great singing teacher aren’t mutually exclusive.

Deciding which singers to pair up and what songs they should sing means the judges have a lot on their plate. Top that off with having to send someone home at the end of a battle performance and we definitely get why reinforcements in the form of advisers are necessary.

TEAM JENNIFER

Singers: Davon Fleming vs. Maharasyi

Team Jennifer Hudson members Davon and Maharasyi are already winners in our books for their totally appropriate reaction to seeing adviser Kelly Rowland.

The pair were tasked with singing Whitney Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” which Rowland revealed was the song she performed when auditioning for Destiny’s Child. Fun fact! Rowland and Coach Jennifer Hudson helped the pair find their voices and learn how to sing together, not an easy task when your singing partner is also your competitor. There are some singers we feel bad for simply because they’re paired against vocal beasts and this battle was a prime example. Maharasyi is an incredible singer, but Davon won his spot in the live shows back in the blind auditions.

Winner: Davon

TEAM ADAM

Singers: Brandon Showell vs. Hannah Mrozak

We saw this on Monday night with Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” and thanks to Brandon and Hannah’s rearrangement of Justin Bieber’s “Cold Water,” we now have another pop song that is begging to go from a solo performer to duet. The pair went a step further, turning the high energy EDM single into a heartfelt ballad that had us hoping both singers would make it to the next round. We also think they should be considering careers as music producers. Adviser Joe Jonas was there to offer moral support and to push Hannah to sing her best simply by being hot and in her proximity. Someone was obviously a Camp Rock fan.

Winner: Hannah

TEAM BLAKE

Singers: Dennis Drummond vs. Mitchell Lee

At times it can feel like the celebrity advisers are there just to get some camera time and impress the hopeful singers, but in the case of Tuesday’s Battle Rounds, Rascall Flats earned their keep. The country trio helped Blake Shelton take two totally different singers and make them sound like the next Crosby, Stills and Nash. While Mitchell’s pitch-perfect impression of Adam Duritz scored him a win with “Mrs. Jones,” super-tall Dennis was saved by Adam. “I fought really hard for you and I lost, which sucked then, but not anymore,” said Levine, who initially pushed his button for Dennis in the Blind Audition. “He’s super talented, so I’m super happy.”

Winner: Mitchell (with a steal for Dennis by Adam)

Tuesday night’s episode didn’t feature full rehearsals and performances for all the Battle Round singers, but did include a quick recap. Team Adam’s Dave Crosby battled Dylan Gerard on “Doctor My Eyes” (Dylan won). Team Blake’s Esera Tuaolo battled Rebecca Bruner on “This I Promise You” (Esera won). Team Miley’s Chloe Kohanski battled Ilianna Viramontes on “I Am Woman” (Chloe won).
