If years can be measured by the sheer number of adorable celebrity offspring born within a 12-month span, 2019 was a good one. Not only did we get to watch newly-minted Duchess Meghan Markle become a first-time mom, we saw celebs like Jessica Simpson, Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian welcome new additions to their already super-cute broods. Bonus: a new crop of unique celebrity baby names to enjoy. Here are some of the little ones we were introduced to in 2019.
Jacob (Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher)
Country superstar Carrie Underwood and her NHL hubby, Mike Fisher, welcomed their second son in late January. Jacob Bryan Fisher joined older brother Isaiah Michael, now four years old. As Underwood put things after Jacob’s birth, “Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired and our lives are forever changed. Life is good…”
A little birdie to complete their nest? Too cute! Jessica Simpson and husband Eric Johnson welcomed their third child, daughter Birdie May, on March 19, 2019. A little sister for big sibs Maxwell Drew and Ace Knute, Birdie weighed in at a not-so-little 10lbs, 13oz. Now that’s a healthy baby and Simpson was refreshingly candid during her pregnancy about how her big bundle caused plenty of things to grow, like her feet.
It was a boy for Prince Harry and Megan Markle. The royal couple introduced their first child, son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, shortly after his birth on May 6th. The new parents have decided to raise Archie as a private citizen (albeit a very famous one) and subsequently chose not to bestow a royal title on their son. Queen Elizabeth’s newest great-grandson will be known as “master” Archie instead and won hearts almost immediately—and this was before that perfect Christmas card.

Gene Attell (Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer)
Another royal baby was born in May 2019, according to Amy Schumer. The comedienne and her husband, chef Chris Fisher, welcomed their first child within hours of Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s son, Archie. They introduced their own “royal baby” a few days later, sharing a sweet newborn photo on Instagram. Schumer filmed her most recent Netflix comedy special, Growing, while pregnant with baby Gene, and earned Emmy, People's Choice and Critics' Choice nominations.
North, Saint, Chicago and now, baby Psalm West (were you expecting anything less from Kimye?). The Kardashian West family welcomed their fourth child via surrogate on May 10th, 2019, bringing the total number of KUWTK grandkids to a whopping nine. That’s a lot of birthdays for grandma—er, “lovey”—Kris Jenner to remember!
And Santino makes three. Saved by the Bell alum Mario Lopez proudly announced the birth of his third child with wife Courtney on July 8th, 2019 and it was a boy. Santino Rafael Lopez (aka Sonny) joined big sister Gia Francesca and big brother Dominic Luciano.
A new Canadian television star in the making? Atlas Noa was born to parents Shay Mitchell and Matte Babel in October 2019. The beautiful baby girl has clearly captured her mom’s heart, with Mitchell writing, “I had no idea I was capable of loving anything like this before you arrived.” And it looks like Atlas is already living up to her worldly name, including a stop in Paris this year.
Miranda Kerr announced the birth of her third child, Myles, on October 15th. The supermodel mama is also mother to eight-year-old son Flynn (with ex-husband Orlando Bloom) and one-and-a-half-year-old son Hart (with husband Evan Spiegel). Those are some seriously enviable genes.
Surprise! Ricky Martin and husband Jwan Yosef welcomed a baby boy named Renn in late October. Renn is the couple’s fourth child to be born via surrogate, after 10-year-old twin sons Matteo and Valentino and daughter Lucia, who was born in 2018. With two tweens, a toddler and a baby, that's going to be one busy house.
"With full and grateful hearts, we welcome our beautiful son into this incredible world." That’s how Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki and fiancee Alaina Meyer introduced us to their son Avery, who was born in early December. Congratulations to the new parents!

Delilah (Keira Knightley and James Righton)
A little sister for Edie! Keira Knightley welcomed her second daughter, Delilah, in September 2019. The actress hasn’t shared any images of her new child but has made her opinions on the pressures of motherhood well-known, particularly with a bitingly honest essay she wrote about the birth of her first daughter’s birth in 2015. We love her real talk—nicely done, mama.
