Queen Céline is having a year.
This fall, she announced the end of her historic, record-breaking Vegas residency, then just last month shared plans for new music and her first North American tour in a decade, both aptly titled Courage, and brought the house down with her gilded goddess fringe Met Gala look that paid homage to Judy Garland.
Now she’s giving us more fashion inspo and embodying #hairgoals in her new commercial for L’Oreal Paris Excellence Crème Hair Colour that premiered during last night’s Gala Artis (aka the French-Canadian Oscars).
You may recall that she announced her partnership with the beauty brand back in early April saying, “I never saw that coming, especially at 51 years old.”
In the commercial spot, the chanteuse signs Aretha Franklin’s classic “Respect” and her wardrobe is very ’80s, signalling that maybe that’s the next decade ready to inspire the runways, mall clothing racks and off-duty celeb looks.
Case in point: the shimmery jacket Dion sports is not only sequined, it has exquisitely exaggerated shoulders; the acid-wash jeans are high-waisted AND pleated, giving us Mario Lopez-on-Saved-by-the-Bell flashbacks.
Of course on Dion, who at 51 remains a pillar of youthful joie de vivre, it works.
