Chanel Le Vernis nail polish is iconic. Uma Thurman wore Vamp in Pulp Fiction, and then Madonna wore the shade in the video for “Take a Bow.” Even Buffy Summers talked about it on the premiere episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. To recap, that’s Mia Wallace, Madonna and Buffy the freakin’ vampire slayer, all entranced by a single nail polish. So, yeah, people know it and love it.
Well, Chanel is changing its formula.
They’re entering the long-lasting, gel-like polishes game. In total, there’s gonna be 15 shades, plus a top coat. For this launch, only five of the brand’s most sought-after colours were kept, and they are Ballerina, Particulere, Vamp, Pirate and Rouge Noir.
Chanel’s nail ambassador Ashlie Johnson says, “I love that the new formula not only lasts longer, but that it actually helps to repair the condition of your natural nails,” Johnson echoed. “My nails feel more protected and conditioned when wearing it; the thicker formula is more durable and super-shiny.”
But why is it long-lasting? What the heck is in it? It’s the bioceramics and ceramides – think of these ingredients as cellular coating, used to strengthen hard tissue and enamel. It’s also why they will last with a top coat for a while, and why you won’t need a UV lamp to seal anything in.
That’s pretty fancy. The new formula launches in March, but you can check out the available shades right now. You should also sign up to find out when the pre-order starts, which hopefully is any day now. We’re thinking a deadly pair of Rouge Noir nails, what about you?
