If you find a cheesie or any other snack food that looks like a gorilla, we have some advice: DO NOT EAT IT. We repeat: put the gorilla-shaped cheesie down!
One savvy snacker saw an opportunity in the shape of a gorilla climbing a tree, and opted not to chomp down on the Flamin’ Hot Cheeto, and posted it to eBay instead, calling it a “one of a kind” Harambe lookalike and “a great collectible for anyone who appreciates rare items!”
Here it is to scale. (Bag and tape measure not included in the sale.)
Okay, so we see the resemblance when they’re put side by side, but is it really a “great collectible?” And does it look particularly like Harambe, the internet-famous gorilla who was put to death after dragging around a boy who’d fallen into his enclosure at the Cincinnati zoo? Or is this just a regular old gorilla? Wait, is it even a gorilla at all!?
Well, the right people obviously thought it was a perfect representation of Harambe; the Cheeto received 132 bids, and the price climbed to just under $100,000 USD (just over $131,000 CAD) before closing. We imagine there’s a 20-something Redditor on the other end of the eBay transaction going, “uh oh, did I just really buy this thing?”
The seller (username “valuestampsinc” on eBay) better be super careful shipping this delicate treasure. He or she’s going to need lots of bubble wrap for this one and probably a few sturdy boxes, too.
Since the Cheeto went viral, a bunch of similar eBay listings have cropped up, including a “RARE – One of a kind Cheetos Puffs – Harambe Gorilla Poop.” True story. It’s sitting at just $11, and it could be yours!
If anything, this teaches us to closely observe our food before we eat it. We did scarf down a pizza bun the other day that kind of looked like a pregnant Beyonce… Dang, we could’ve been rich!
