Fashion is incredibly subjective, and these celebrities reminded us of that fact when they wore some outfits that could definitely be perceived as, well, awful. Chloe Sevigny was either a very early adopter of a fashion trend we’ve yet to receive the memo on, or just having an off night when she put on this lime green number.
On top of the head-to-toe acid green, we had Barbie gone bad, and laced up red pleather, as well as missed looks by normally stylish stars like Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Biel and Elisabeth Moss. Hopefully being called out for their less successful looks here will inspire them to go back to their roots.
Did Chloe Sevigny’s lime dress cross a fashion line?
Alexis BledelA bit of bling is great, but it’s not enough to make this dress interesting. Maybe it’s because the sparkle all blends together from a distance, or maybe it’s the cut of the dress, which isn’t exactly the most creative. Alexis could jazz this up by adding some accessories, maybe in a light yellow to go with her shoes.Getty Images
Andie MacDowellThe silhouette of this dress could be taken to a more fashion forward place with a bolder colour, but in this drab beige this dress reads old. Instead of having a cool vintage influence, it looks like something that wouldn’t make it off the thrift store sales rack. Andie is so much cooler than this.Getty Images
Chloe SevignyIn another life, a less lime green life, this dress could have its moment, but it’s impossible to look past that acid green that’s burning itself into our retinas. Good for you Chloe, for pushing boundaries, but this a lime you don’t want to cross.Getty Images
Chrissy TeigenChrissy is a total knockout, but this dress does not do her justice. The skirt looks stiff, the silver peacock-y bit is uninspired, and the neckline’s also a bit boring. This mini is not the worst dress we’ve ever seen, but no one’s going to remember it in the morning.Getty Images
Elisabeth MossThis look is not doing Elizabeth justice by any means. This black gown is way too plain. Instead of adding interest, the arm cape just looks awkward, and should be either a full cape, or not there at all. The blue eyeshadow is also a little too Spring-like for this darker look.Getty Images
ImanWhen you picture Iman on a red carpet, you probably picture her in a show-stopping gold gown like the one she wore to the Met Ball a few years ago. You probably aren’t picturing this outfit. Iman looks like she’s about to pick up her kids from private school, not attend a premiere.Getty Images
Jessica BielThe cut of this dress could be gorgeous, but this plaid fabric is sending out some Sherlock Holmes vibes, and it doesn’t mesh well with the ruffles. In a solid jewel tone, it could easily make it on the best dressed list, but with this material, it’s not going to happen.Getty Images
Keith AllanKeith might be used to wearing some flashy gear on Z Nation, but he needs to know when to leave it on the set. The brown plaid and pleather pants are bad enough on their own, but he’s also chosen a totally normal dress shirt and tie, which is somehow the part of this outfit that makes the least sense.Getty Images
Kristin ChenowethIn this pleather dress Kristin looks less like the dynamite actress/singer everyone knows and loves, and more a Real Housewife of Las Vegas. As a trend, laced up leather is kind of played out, as is the way this dress is cut. This fiery red looks great on her, but the rest of the design needs an overhaul.Getty Images
Laura LinneyWhat’s painful about Laura’s look is that this dress is so close to greatness. The colour is great, the fabric looks beautiful, but the strands hanging down from the hem ruin it all. That style hem used to invoke fairy-like whimsy, but today it just looks like Laura’s stuck in the past.Getty Images
Lena DunhamThis pattern’s definitely cool, but not in this shape. This spaghetti strap dress is super, super basic. How awesome would it be to see Lena wear this pattern in something a little riskier, like a jumpsuit? Those shoes (though we are big fans of Fenty x Puma) also seem way too clunky for this dress.Getty Images
Lola SchnabelAs a fantastic artist, it’s not unexpected for Lola to extend her artistic aesthetic into her clothing, but someone should probably tell her she’s put her dress on backwards. It’s possible that she is wearing it the right way and the sleeves are meant to jut out like that with inner elbow cut outs, but that’s doubtful.Getty Images
Monica BellucciIf anyone can rock a super long sheer red train, it’s Monica Bellucci, but the rest of this dress is nothing to marvel at. The neckline is puckered, and the red by itself is a little dull. The worst offenders are the sleeves, which go way too far past her hands.Getty Images
Rebecca HallThe last time layering this bad graced a premiere was when people still thought it was acceptable to wear floaty dresses over blue jeans. Unfortunately for Rebecca, this crushed velvet dress over a thin turtleneck is not okay. If she ditched the turtleneck altogether, maybe we could talk.Getty Images
Yvonne StrahovskiYvonne must be a little confused. At a different event this week she wore a stunning black and navy dress, and then somehow also picked out this leopard print tube top and these pants with inexplicably obnoxious flaps. Seriously, is she trying to take flight?Getty Images
Zosia MametAt this rate, half the main cast of Girls will be on this list. With Zosia’s outfit the problem isn’t so much the clothes themselves, but how sloppily they’re put together. The pants could use hemming, her shirt’s a little see-through and caught in some places, and her hair looks windswept in a bad way.Getty Images
