Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson made rare public appearance together

There are some celebrity couples who like to keep their private lives as private as possible, and there are others who call the paparazzi to alert them of their plans before they even head out the door. Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson definitely fall in to the former category, making it all the more surprising that they were spotted in public. Together. Being affectionate.You may recall, Chris and Dakota have been together since 2017, but reportedly broke up for a brief time earlier this year. Then the couple reunited in August and it was all thanks to Martin's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, who reportedly "pushed" Chris and Dakota to reconcile. Sources told Us Weekly that she "only wants the best" for her ex and "Gwyneth is happy if Chris is happy."Martin and Johnson attended the Place for Peace event for the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative in New York City on Friday, all dressed up, and Johnson even had Chris' suit jacket on over her colourful dress for part of the evening. In a snap of the pair, Dakota even has he hand on Martin's thigh in a rare PDA for the spotlight-averse duo.

Following their Friday night date night, Chris and Dakota attended the 2019 Global Citizen Festival on Saturday where they hit the stage—separately—to continue the group's mission to end poverty around the world by 2030. It was at last year's festival that Johnson shared her phone number with the world, asking women who face extreme violence and sexual harassment to share their stories with her.Now, Johnson is taking her activism a step further and launched a podcast that allows sexual violence survivors to share their stories. It was Dakota's goal to compile all the stories and get those voices heard and The Left Ear is doing just that. It's now available and will air every Monday beginning October 7. Chris Martin must be proud.Dakota made a splash earlier this month during the Toronto International Film Festival when she was in town to promote her movie The Friend, and nearly stopped traffic with her gothic Dior gown.
