Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger made things official on Saturday when the pair were married in front of friends and family. Choosing the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California as their backdrop, the couple, who started dating in the summer of 2018, tied the knot after a six-month engagement.
The 29-year-old bride, who is probably really excited to take on her new one-syllable last name, was surrounded by her famous family, including father of the bridanator Arnold Schwarzenegger, brother Patrick Schwarzenegger, and their mother Maria Shriver, who first introduced Katherine and Chris. As for 39-year-old Pratt, his six-year-old son Jack, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, was by dad’s side during the ceremony. A source close to E! News said that the wedding included 70 guests, including celebrities like Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who Pratt famously defended after Gunn’s firing by Disney, and actor Rob Lowe, who brought his sons as his wedding dates.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger were married at the lavish resort in the evening, with a source close to E! News reporting that “Guests began arriving around 5 p.m. and were escorted to the lawn where a jazz band performed. Around 5:45 p.m., they moved to the ceremony tent which was adjacent to the lawn. There were lots of white flowers including hydrangeas and roses and lots of greenery.” The ceremony reportedly included a string quartet playing John Legend’s “All of Me,” with the 20-minute ceremony concluding with a rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” The classics are classic for a reason, you guys. They just work.
Following the wedding, Pratt and Schwarzenegger posted nearly identical Instagram messages along with a picture of the happy couple wearing custom-made Giorgio Armani outfits. Feeling #blessed, Chris and Katherine wrote “We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love. It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives. We are so thankful to our families and our friends who stood with us.”

Yesterday was the best day of our lives! We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love. It was intimate, moving and emotional. We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives. We are so thankful to our families and our friends who stood with us and grateful to Mr. Giorgio Armani who created a once in a lifetime dress for Katherine to wear and for me, the perfect suit. This morning we feel nothing but blessed.
The social media posts include comment sections that read like the call sheet for the next Avengers film, with celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Karen Gillan, and Zoe Saldana sharing their well-wishes, in addition to non-Marvel actors like John Krasinski, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan Michael-Key, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, and Pratt’s Jurassic World co-star Bryce Dallas Howard. Even DC star Jason Mamoa posted a heart-eye emoji, showing that true love can conquer all, even competing superhero franchises.
While there was a lot of love surrounding the pair’s nuptials, some fans took offense to the new couple citing their wedding as the ‘best day of our lives.’ Most of the blame was directed towards Pratt, who was criticized for naming his wedding day and not the birth of his son Jack at the best day of his life. The big issue here is probably the term ‘best.’ What do we mean by best? There are weddings, then there’s giving birth. Your wedding might be the most fun day of your life. The fun-best. On the other hand, labour probably won’t have an open bar, and the actual day might be pretty rough, but the hospital parting gift of your new baby? That’s the love-best. So, maybe we just assume that Pratt meant that his son Jack is the best thing to ever happen to him, and his wedding day was the most fun he’s ever had in a single day. Cool? Cool.
