If you get a follow or a friend request from Chris Pratt, you might want to take a minute before you start sampling wedding cakes. The star may be single again (*sob*) but he’s not using social media to find The One. Pratt took to Instagram last week to warn fans to be wary of any communications from “Chris Pratt” accounts. Apparently there is an impostor out there targeting his female fans.

“PERVY DUDE ALERT!!! (Not a joke),” the actor wrote, “It’s confirmed: somebody is trying to pretend to be me on Facebook (and maybe other social media platforms) apparently hitting on a lot of different female fans, trying to get their numbers and who knows what else.”

PERVY DUDE ALERT!!! (Not a joke) It’s confirmed: somebody is trying to pretend to be me on Facebook (and maybe other social media platforms) apparently hitting on a lot of different female fans, trying to get their numbers and who knows what else. I’m not joking. Please know, I find this behavior reprehensible. If I find out who it is I’ll have their account shut down and seriously would like to punch them right in the GD mouth. You hear that imposter!? Stop. My message to any fans who are contacted by someone claiming to be Chris Pratt: Look for the BLUE “VERIFIED” CHECKMARK next to the name. If there is no checkmark by my name that person is an imposter. I’m sorry. Tell your siblings. Educate our young ones. It’s probably mostly kids who would fall for this. Makes me sick. It terrifies me to think someone could be hurt, their feelings or much worse, by this imposter/potential predator. I’ve had many, many people tell me about this. It’s not an isolated incident. If anyone is in contact with this person block them immediately. If it’s you doing it, I’m warning you. Stop right now or you will@be very unhappy with the outcome. Go find Jesus. 🙏 praying for you.

He went on to condemn the predatory behaviour and warn fans to make sure that any communications from him are through his blue-check-mark verified accounts. He also had some choice words (and a couple threats) for the impostor preying on his fans.

“Please know, I find this behavior reprehensible,” Pratt wrote, “If I find out who it is I’ll have their account shut down and seriously would like to punch them right in the GD mouth. You hear that imposter!? Stop.”

He also suggested that this is a learning opportunity for internet safety. He suggested that fans tell their siblings and “young ones” because children would be most in danger of believing a fake celebrity account was real.

“Makes me sick. It terrifies me to think someone could be hurt, their feelings or much worse, by this imposter/potential predator,” he continued, “If it’s you doing it, I’m warning you. Stop right now or you will@be very unhappy with the outcome. Go find Jesus.” [sic]

The Facebook account to which Pratt was referring in his post was removed within the next day. It is unclear if it was willingly removed by the creator or taken down by Facebook. There has been no word from Pratt or anyone else about if the impostor behind the account was identified.

Looks like it’s #confirmed that Christopher Michael Pratt is, in fact, a real Guardian of the Galaxy, fiercely protecting his fans by warning them of potential dangers and taking it upon himself to threaten internet trolls and predators. Keep being you, Chris.
