Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend have called it quits

There are some couples you assume will be together forever, those low-profile Hollywood duos that manage to live their lives out of the spotlight and always appear fine. So it's sad to hear when one of those couples that we've always taken for granted announce that they're over.Mad Men star Christina Hendricks and Madam Secretary actor Geoffrey Arend have separated after 10 years of marriage. The exes released a joint statement that Hendricks posted to her Instagram account. "Twelve years ago we fell in love and became partners. We joined our two amazing families, had countless laughs, made wonderful friends and were blessed with incredible opportunities. Today we take our next step together, but on separate paths. We will always be grateful for the love we've shared and will always work together to raise our two beautiful dogs." They concluded by asking for a little privacy. "We will be taking time to rediscover ourselves in this transition and we thank you for your patience and support in giving us the space to do so."That might just be the best joint separation announcement we've ever laid eyes on. Respectfully written and with sweet sentiments, it only makes their split that much sadder.

Hendricks, who currently stars on Good Girls, and Arend first got together in 2007 after being introduced to each other by Christina's Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser. They married in 2009.While Hendricks has posted Halloween throwback photos of her and Arend on her Instagram account in the last couple of days, the last pic she posted of Geoffrey not in costume was in July as he posed with their two beloved dogs, Zou Zou and Tatiana.As for Arend, he also has been posting a lot of pics of their dogs. Earlier this week, however, he wrote a cryptic message alongside a photo of him getting some much-needed love from Zou Zou and Tati. "Anytime you're feeling low, bookend yourself in dogs. Can't recommend it enough."
