Well, this is one way to ring in the holidays.

The Hobbit star Christopher Lee has released a Christmas single with a heavy metal twist. Titled “Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing,” listening to it makes you feel like Lord Saruman is personally serenading your family with festive song.

But there’s nothing holly jolly about these tunes.

This is the third year the 92-year-old actor has released remixes of Christmas music, following 2012’s “A Heavy Metal Christmas” and 2013’s “A Heavy Metal Christmas Too.” But this year, the song seems to be a medley of “The Little Drummer Boy,” “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.”

Now, why would someone in their golden years want to make heavy metal music, you ask?

“At my age, the most important thing for me is to keep active by doing things that I truly enjoy. I do not know how long I am going to be around, so every day is a celebration and I want to share it with my fans,” Lee told Blabbermouth.

Given that this year’s song has racked up almost  a million views already, it’s definitely worth checking out. And who knows, maybe you’ll like it so much, you might even start calling it “my precious.” You can listen to the song above.
