Here at The Loop, we’re often sent many products to test, passing on all our favourites as recommendations to you. And while we are always excited to try out the latest new-fangled products that promise to make our skin taut, nails sparkle and hair soft, sometimes a tried-and-true brand will remind us why we’ve always loved them in the first place. This time, it’s Herbal Essences new(ish) range of Blue Ginger & Micellar Water shampoo and conditioners that have us singing their praises.

We could tell you that it’s crafted with bio:renew, an essential blend of essential antioxidants, aloe and sea kelp, and that it’s pH-balanced, colour safe and gluten and paraben free. But the best kind of endorsement is always personal — tell me this doesn’t make you want to go out and buy a bottle or two right now:

“This is the best drugstore or non-drugstore shampoo I’ve ever used. As soon as I started washing my hair I could feel the difference. It squeaked as I washed it, but not like dish soap (yes, I’ve washed my hair with dish soap) makes your hair squeak; it was rich and… robust I guess, lathered up beautifully but rinsed clean and easily. I was, and this is no hyperbole, surprised and delighted.

After washing I used the Blue Ginger Conditioner, and guess what? It was the perfect complement to the shampoo. It was rich without being cloying, rinsed nicely and left my hair manageable.

I swear on my life, as soon as I got out of the shower — still wet — I texted my friend about this product.”

How do I know this? That friend was me.

In other words, you’re gonna wanna try this.
