Are they or aren’t they? That’s the question we’ve been asking ourselves in the wake of rumours that Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have reportedly broken up after a glorious two years of bestowing their #RelationshipGoals on us.

Us Weekly first reported the split after Reinhart and Sprouse supposedly kept their distance at a Comic-Con party last weekend. According to story, the pair didn’t really interact with each other, despite hanging out with some of their other Riverdale co-stars. Obviously we needed some tissues when “multiple sources” confirmed the news, because, well… the OG couple just makes our hearts happy.

But as it turns out, maybe we were grieving a little too early. At least that’s the impression we have after Reinhart and Sprouse took to Instagram to finally address the rumours, denying them in their own delightful, yet cryptic way.

“BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know shit,” Reinhart captioned a gorgeous cover shoot from W Magazine.

“UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of ‘reliable sources’ to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult,” Sprouse added on his own account with the same photo.

So, does this mean that they’re not broken up? It’s hard to say. If you read the actual article that accompanies the cover they shared, it confirms the breakup and notes that they decided to do separate interviews for the story—potentially foreshadowing the split. Why share something that confirms your breakup but then also deny you’re no longer together?

It’s all very confusing, but at least they’re on the same page? At this point we’re choosing to be optimistic because let’s face it—we’ve watched these two be each other’s muses for so long that we just don’t want to imagine a world in which they’re no longer together.

In other words, #Sprousehart4Eva.
