We’ll admit it, we can be total makeup snobs. There are many factors that keep us faithful to our department store brands: the chalky feeling of cheap eyeliner, the underpigmented shadows, the foundations that make our skin break out into hives. That’s why we — like other makeup snobs before us — were skeptical of this Essence $4.49 contouring pencil. Thankfully, we are always willing to accept when we’re wrong. Yes, the packaging isn’t all that sleek, but this velvety smooth pencil packs quite a punch.
Marketed as an eye contour (shadow and/or liner and highlight), this handy little pencil can also be used on the face. With a little blending, you too can give Kim K a run for her money. Plus, it’s super compact. Throw it in your bag for instant cheekbones on the go. The drawback? Right now it only comes in two shades, so it might not suit every skin-tone. But at under five bucks a pop, it might just be worth the trip to Shopper’s Drug Mart to find out.
