July is here and with it comes a huge list of great titles to heat up the CraveTV lineup. New episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale and The Affair are arriving each week, as well as the addition of the fourth and final season of the critically-acclaimed dark comedy Casual.
Also arriving this month is the latest season of South Park, with the potty-mouthed kids of the Colorado town dealing with fake news and making some of it on their own. On the other end of the animation spectrum is Corner Gas: Animated, the series that brings everyone’s favourite Dog River, Saskatchewan residents back to the small screen, this time a little more two-dimensional.
All these new series, plus shows starring Dwayne Johnson, Game of Thrones’ actor Natalie Dormer and more!
Corner Gas Animated, Ballers, and more great series coming to CraveTV in July
CASUAL, SEASON 4July 31
It’s time to say goodbye to our favourite dysfunctional yet lovable brother and sister combo Alex (Tommy Dewey) and Valerie (Michaela Watkins). In its fourth and final season, the Jason Reitman-produced, Golden Globe-nominated comedy will explore life for Alex and Valerie now that Valerie’s daughter has moved in with her grandparents across the country. With the impressive Season 3 overseen by a crew of female directors, we can’t wait to see how Casual says its goodbyes. Seasons 1-3 of Casual are streaming now on CraveTV.CraveTV
SOUTH PARK, SEASON 21July 1
Never a show to pull punches or wait for news to get stale, South Park’s ambitious 21st season takes on fake news, teen suicide, opiate addiction, and distracted driving. Pretty heavy subject matter for a show starring cartoon 10-year-olds, but thankfully there’s still lots of levity, care of episodes like ‘White People Renovating Homes,’ which is about exactly what it sounds like. Plus, there’s always the farting Canadians Terrence and Phillip. Do we really fart that much in Canada? Oh buddy.Much
JERSEY SHORE: FAMILY VACATIONJuly 13
They’re older, they’re wiser, they’re here to make good decisions. One out of three of those statements is accurate and we’ll let you watch the return of the Jersey Shore crew to decide which is most fitting. The gang is back and now they have kids, marriages, girlfriends, and fraud cases to deal with. Oh yes, the Situation got himself into a Situation. Back living together in Miami, the MTV cameras are there to catch every drunken moment of debauchery care of Vinny, Snooki, J-Woww, Deena, Ronnie, Mike ‘The Situation, and DJ Pauly D. Plus, there’s a creepy Sammi Sweetheart that sticks around all season, unlike the actual Sammi who made the (probably good) decision to pass on the reunion. It’s t-shirt time once again.MTV
CORNER GAS ANIMATEDJuly 6
They say you can’t go home again, but thanks to the revamped Corner Gas (now animated!), you can go back to see your friends in Dog River, Saskatchewan. Created by Corner Gas star and writer Brent Butt, all your favourite characters from the sleepy prairie town are back and going on even more low stakes adventures thanks to the power of animation.CraveTV
If you’re looking for a comedy that’s light on drama and heavy on laughs, Bravo’s new original series Carter starring Jerry O’Connell is the perfect summer series to binge. O’Connell plays Harley Connor, a TV detective who heads home to his small Canadian town and finds himself in the middle of a real-life murder case without a script in sight. Shot in North Bay, Ontario, Orphan Black fans will be happy to see Kristian Bruun as Carter’s friend Dave.Bravo
BALLERS, SEASONS 1-2July 13
The first two seasons of HBO’s football series Ballers will have you asking a few questions. One, does Dwayne Johnson require a tailor on call 24/7 to make his custom suits? Two, why isn’t Rob Corddry in everything? And three, who is the scene-stealing actor that plays egocentric football pro Ricky Jerret? We’ll save you the trouble of googling the last question. He’s John David Washington, as in Denzel Washington’s son. And yeah, talent runs in that family.HBO Canada
THE AFFAIR, SEASON 4New episodes every Sunday.
The show with unreliable narrators and more affairs than we can keep track of is back for another season of AMBD – Adults Making Bad Decisions. Seriously, who is looking out for the kids on this show? Definitely not their parents. When Season 4 premieres, we’ll see just what kind of shape Noah, Helen, Alison and Cole are in after continuing to do damage to themselves and one another. Plus, there will be sexy times. There are always sexy times on The Affair. Seasons 1-3 available now on CraveTV.CraveTV
THE HANDMAID’S TALE, SEASON 2New episodes every Monday.
The show that won literally every award is back with another season to terrify viewers and act as a reminder to vote, resist, and do whatever it takes to keep the red robes as fiction. In Season 2 of Margaret Atwood’s stunning The Handmaid’s Tale, Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss returns as Offred and fights to free her unborn child from the horrifying constraints of Gilead. Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel and Ann Dowd all reprise their roles, so you can expect another sweep come awards seasons. New episodes are added to CraveTV one day after their broadcast premiere on Sunday nights on Bravo. Season 1 available now on CraveTV.Bravo
PICNIC AT HANGING ROCKJuly 27
Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer is back with a new role in yet another addictive drama. This time, Dormer plays Hester Appleyard, a widow who establishes a school for girls in Australia. When the iron-fisted Hester allows her pupils to have a picnic at Hanging Rock, an inactive volcano site, tragedy strikes, and everyone becomes a suspect in the disappearance of three students and a teacher. There aren’t any dragons, but there’s a ton of drama and intrigue.Bravo
