Courteney Cox has been in our lives for so long, from the “Dancing in the Dark” video to Family Ties to Friends to the Scream movies, it’s hard to remember a time when she wasn’t around. Over three decades? That’s a lot. And of course a person is going to change in that amount of time, but in Cox’s case, she has some fairly specific regrets about just how much she’s changed.

“Sometimes you find yourself trying and then you look at a picture of yourself and you go, ‘Oh God, I look horrible,'” she tells Bear Grylls in an episode of his show, Running Wild.

“Getting older, I don’t think that’s the easiest thing. But I have learned lessons,” she continued. “I think I was trying to keep up with getting older and trying to chase that. It’s something you can’t keep up with.”

She added: “I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away. So that’s good because it’s not always been my best look.”

But now, moving forward, she has a brand-new motto: “Just let it be.”

Aw, Courteney. You have to feel for her, because women need to stop being so hard on themselves. At the same time, she’s still beautiful, has a great life, has her health, a wonderful daughter, is in a good relationship with Coco’s dad, ex-husband David Arquette, and despite calling off their engagement, she and boyfriend Johnny McDaid are working it out. Her new outlook on life, not worrying about the past and focusing on the future, is really the best way to live.
