New York Fashion Week kicked off on Friday and despite all the celebrities milling around the city and shows going on until Saturday, one star managed to steal the spotlight. Zendaya showed up at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party in a suit that had already been worn by someone else. That someone else? Michael B. Jordan.
That saying about clothes making the man? Well, they can make a woman too. Michael B. may have rocked the charcoal Berluti suit several months back, during Vanity Fair‘s Oscars party in February, but Zendaya figured this past weekend was as good a time as any to show up in the same textured suit. If we had to decode who we stan for more, we’re not sure who to choose as they both rocked their respective looks. Hers is a little more tailored to fit her frame while his clearly had to be altered to accommodate his muscular bod. But Zendaya added an even more to the overall look of the whole ensemble by adding a tie; Jordan kept his look buttoned-up but a little less restricting. Z also balanced the menswear with sheer black tights and velvet Louboutin pumps, differing from Jordan’s patent leather shoes.
“When it comes to fashion, there’s nothing that Zendaya won’t try,” Law Roach, Zendaya’s stylist and image architect, told People. “After working with her for eight years, she keeps it new and fresh and exciting every single time.” Roach described the process of the two of them working towards a particular look “very emotional,” explaining, “It’s what feels right or what feels best at that moment.”
Roach described their relationship as “really dynamic,” calls Zendaya his “fashion soulmate” and adds that she allows him to “lead the way to bring her to new designers or items she hasn’t worn before.” The most important thing? “Everything that she walks out of the house she loves, so no matter what the critics say, she loves it … and that all comes from confidence.”
Roach took to Instagram to post a side-by-side photo of the actors, asking fans who they prefer. And The Shade Room chimed in with its own split-screen of Z and Michael B., but Jordan happily gave the title to the former Disney star.

It’s not the first time Zendaya has had an effect on gender-spinning clothes. In 2017, Z’s pal (and rumoured boyfriend, at the time) Tom Holland wore her clothes on their Spider-Man press tour like it was NBD — because it was NBD. Friends share clothes all the time and only a few people could’ve rocked Zendaya’s leather jacket. And it just so happened, Tom was one of those people.
Earlier this year, Zendaya collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger, continuing her quest to not only elevate but break ground sartorially. And if Michael B. Jordan’s look isn’t safe, no one’s is. We can’t wait to see what else she has on this NYFW. Excuse us as we prepare to bow down once more.
