At this point, it’s old news that a) the new Ghostbusters movie has an all-female cast (yay!) and b) some people are not happy about it (not yay). The first trailer made YouTube history when it became the most disliked non-music video on the site. Quite the feat considering some of the less-than-quality content on the internet…

Seriously though, how are we not excited about seeing comedy queens, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones fight ghosts? Plus, possibly the most beautiful human being alive, Chris Hemsworth, just existing?! And most of the original cast will be returning in some form. What is not to like about this movie??

Now, ‘don’t be a hater’ is a general (and frequently broken) rule of the internet, but if you actually need a reason to be decent toward the creators of this movie, here’s one: Dan Aykroyd (yes, of the original movies) has given his review of the new Ghostbusters and it is nothing but positive.

Short of Bill Murray himself, Aykroyd is probably the most qualified person to critique this movie and it clearly has his seal of approval.

Notice how he specifically mentioned gender? Dan Aykroyd has no time for your sexism. All-female cast for the win!

Plus, ‘more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it,’ is pretty much the best review you could give any movie. Bill Murray is in it, people!

So, it’s confirmed, ladies and gentleman, ‘man-fans’ and woman-fans alike will love this movie. There is no more discussion. Dan Aykroyd has spoken.

Ghostbusters hits theatres July 15th. Dan Aykroyd will be there with all his friends, and you’re probably going to want to be there too.
