Danny Trejo may be best known for playing villains and intimidating characters in movies like Machete, Heat, Con Air and Desperado, but the actor just proved that he should really be playing a superhero. Trejo was one of the first people on the scene when two cars crashed on Wednesday in Los Angeles. The actor quickly sprung into action to help rescue a baby that was inside one of the overturned vehicles.
Trejo told CNN that he tried to crawl through a broken window in order to free the child but was unable to undo the car seat. Anyone who has ever strapped a child into a car seat knows they’re challenging to buckle and unbuckle even in the best scenarios. With the help of another bystander, Monica Jackson, the pair were able to free the child from his car seat and move him out of the car and away from the wreckage.
Speaking to a photographer on the scene, Trejo said, “The only thing that saved the little kid was his car seat.” We don’t know what type of car seat the child was using, but the company may want to hire Trejo as their new spokesperson. Every parent is going to want that car seat.
According to Trejo, a car ran a red light and hit an SUV being driven by a grandmother. The woman and her grandson had their SUV flipped over, and with the help of Trejo and Jackson, the young boy was quickly removed from the car. Trejo kept the young boy busy and distracted until his grandmother was okay. Local news agencies are reporting that three people were transported to hospital, but amazingly no life-threatening injuries were sustained in the crash.
Speaking later to CNN affiliate KABC, Trejo said that “everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else.” From now on we plan on approaching new situations with the mindset, ‘What Would Danny Trejo Do?’ The answer is always ‘be a good Samaritan…and be super cool.’
He was right behind a crash in Sylmar and pulled a special needs baby out of an overturned car. He distracted the boy until grandma was OK. ♥️ —> https://t.co/tS2Za4bZVZ@ABC7 pic.twitter.com/U9iLzAkHkA

Trejo is set to star in the upcoming live action film Dora The Explorer as Boots the monkey. We like our superheroes to be well-rounded.
