Imagine this scene: you’re singing and playing guitar in front of tens of thousands of people. You trip, fall maybe 10 feet, and break your leg. Do you then a) get in your private jet and fly home, or b) continue playing as your leg gets bandaged up? Chief Foo Fighter Dave Grohl – a bazillionaire – went with option “b” over the weekend (were you expecting anything less?), opting to finish a gig in Gothenburg, Sweden after falling off of the stage and breaking his leg.

Grohl lost his footing during the band’s song “Monkey Wrench” early in their set. He remained on the ground for several minutes, eventually announcing to the crowd: “Hey, ladies and gentlemen. I love you, but I think I just broke my leg. I really broke my leg.” We think there’s a monkey wrench joke in there somewhere, but it’s escaping us at the moment.

Drummer Taylor Hawkins led the remaining Foo Fighters through a set of cover tunes while Grohl was attended to backstage, before returning to the stage to finish the set while seated. “I may not be able to walk or run but I can still play guitar and scream,” he told the Swedish crowd.  And this, friends, is why we love Dave Grohl. That and the Nirvana/Foo Fighters thing.

The band have had to cancel several European shows so that Grohl can recuperate. We’re thinking one, maybe two days off at most?
