Some people age really well. Others rely on more… scientific methods of keeping that youthful glow. Whatever former footballer and model David Beckham has been doing though, he looks pretty damned good. So good, in fact, that one fan believed he had to have had Botox.

Naturally, Beckham was quick to shut those rumours down.

It all started at Victoria Beckham‘s fashion show, where the star was photographed with his oldest son Brooklyn. British Vogue shared the photo on Instagram, which led plenty of fans to weigh in on the elder Beckham’s impeccable good looks at 42 years old.

“Botox looks good on David!” one fan (or troll, depending on your point of view) remarked.

Usually in these circumstances celebs tend to ignore such comments, but apparently Beckham wanted to set the record straight once and for all.

“I don’t agree with Botox miss@stasdoeshair but I’ll take it as a compliment,” he wrote back.

Well then. That’s certainly one way to deal with rumours, now isn’t it?

Perhaps Beckham was adamant about speaking out against the procedure given that his wife Victoria has been so open about hers over the years. It was actually around this time last year that she penned an open letter to her teenage self to British Vogue, lamenting on all of the things she knows now that she wished she knew then. One of those things was that plastic surgery might not have been a great option.

“I would probably say, don’t mess with your boobs,” she wrote, as Hello reminds us. “All those years I denied it – stupid. A sign of insecurity. Just celebrate what you’ve got.”

It certainly seems like Beckham has taught her to believe more in herself and celebrate her body — if his comment to that fan is any indication. He and Victoria have been dating since 1997, and let’s face it: two decades in Hollywood with the same person is pretty much the equivalent to regular people’s 40 years together. Those two obviously found some sort of magic recipe, and according to David, it’s one that doesn’t involve Botox.
