As most of us know, long before there was a Michael Scott there was a David Brent. The Wernham-Hogg manager was just as self-promoting and deluded as his American counterpart, with one big difference: Ricky Gervais was unmatched in, shall we say, ‘cringeworthiness’ in the role. It did, after all, put him on the map with North American audiences.

Now, it would have been amazing if, back in 2013, Dunder Mifflin actually hired Brent as the new office manager when Michael Scott left, but it actually makes way more sense to showcase the guy’s real talents, pursuing his musical dreams while out on the road.

Thankfully we don’t have to wait any longer to get a taste of what David’s Life on the Road will actually look like. That’s because Brent has released an advanced music video, “Lady Gypsy,” in promotion of his new gig.

The three-minute parody music video, above, is Brent at his best. In between what he thinks are stealthy looks at the camera, a ridiculous sleeveless shirt and comical guitar playing, he tells the story of the time his heart was stolen by a lady gypsy. Among the qualities he lists the lady having, she’s clean, sells heather for a pound and doesn’t charge for sex. Yay to that. She also does a mean frolicking dance in the forest. This song will not only get in your head, but it will start your week off right — even if you’ve never seen the British version of The Office.

If this is just the beginning of what’s to come from Gervais/Brent, we sure as heck can’t wait for more. And if we’re really lucky, maybe some familiar Office faces will return for the ride as well.
