In what may be one of the most anticipated collaborations, Ryan “Canada’s Lover” Reynolds has joined Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Gal “Wonder Woman” Gadot in the upcoming action-thriller Red Notice. The movie centres on Johnson’s Interpol agent character, whose mission it is to capture the world’s most wanted art thief. Sorrynotsorry, Ocean‘s franchise, looks like there’s a new candidate for coolest heist flick ever.

Red Notice was originally signed to Universal after an epic bidding war in early 2018 but the studio has opted to bump it in favour of an untitled event film. That gave Netflix, the runner-up at the time, the opportunity to swoop in—at a huge cost. According to Deadline, Universal began to show hesitation, allowing for Netflix to pounce on the project that will be written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball, Skyscraper). Netflix ponied up “what is arguably its biggest commitment to a feature film,” including a “$20-million salary for Johnson and an eight-figure deal for Thurber.” Count in megastars Gadot (who is also believed to be bringing in a $20-million paycheque) and the newly-added Reynolds and, ka-ching!

The production budget is estimated to be in the $130-million range but Netflix is hoping the global event film will make it up and more.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be making Red Notice with Scott Stuber and Netflix—a company that believes in filmmakers and big ideas for a global audience,” Thurber said in a statement. Johnson added on Twitter: “[T]he goal was to create a true global movie watched & enjoyed by the world—at the exact same time.”

The film boasts a couple of reunions, including Johnson and Thurber, who worked together on Skyscraper and Central Intelligence, as well as bringing back together Furious 6 co-stars Dwayne and Gal. And while Red Notice is touted as an action movie, Thurber has quite the comedic resume  under his belt, and with Reynolds in the mix, we’re going to guess this one makes use of Deadpool’s skills for comedic relief.

Red Notice will be released in 2020.
