Taylor Swift’s Lover is currently holding the number one spot and she can thank fans like Demi Lovato for their support. It appears the two women, who have not always been friendly with one another, have decided to call a truce, with Lovato publicly praising Swift’s latest album, a move that Swift was quick to acknowledge and celebrate. On Monday, Lovato posted a message on her Instagram stories writing “Life’s too short for women to not support other women…especially when women release great music. Great job @TaylorSwift.” Ending the note with clapping and heart emojis, Swift quickly reposted Lovato’s message and added “This is so awesome and put the biggest smile on my face. Thank you @ddlovato.”Lovato’s post comes after a reunited flare up in the women’s tenuous relationship, which in early years centered around their almost-rivalry over shared friend Selena Gomez. After parting ways with her former manager, in May, Lovato joined Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande and became the latest singer to be signed with manager Scooter Braun. This move put Lovato in a precarious position when Braun became embroiled in a feud with Taylor Swift earlier this year. In June, Braun found himself in the middle of a heated battle with Swift after buying Big Machine Records for a reported $300 million, with much of the value of the country label coming from owning the master recordings of Taylor Swift’s first six albums.Swift posted about the deal between Braun and Big Machine Records founder Scott Borchetta on her Tumblr page, calling the deal her “worst case scenario.” Swift slammed both men in the post, writing “This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept,” of Borchetta and calling Braun and “incessant” and “manipulative” bully who has tried to dismantle her career through his dealings with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. The feud split the music industry, with Lovato choosing Team Braun and showing support for her manager by calling him “a good man” on her Instagram and later celebrating her 27th birthday with Braun while backstage at an Ariana Grande concert. But now it looks like Lovato can stand by her manager and still celebrate Swift’s music.Lovato isn’t the only person in the mix trying to throw water on the flames. Following the release of Swift’s Lover on August 23, both Borchetta and Braun praised the new album, with Braun calling it ‘brilliant.’ The social media support from the two men hasn’t quieted Swift’s determination to gain control of her music, with the popstar still reportedly planning on re-recording her first six records in 2020 when her deal with Big Machine Records runs out and she’s free and clear to do so. But as for Demi and Taylor, it appears that it’s nothing but love between the pair. We’ll take this as a win and general feeling of warm fuzzies.
