Taylor Swift might be all over the media due to her blossoming relationship with Tom Hiddleston but her ex, Calvin Harris, is still hanging around, thanks to his hit song, “This Is What You Came For.” The song, featuring Rihanna, was released back in April and is still killing it at the top of the charts. That is some serious staying power and a testament to just how in-tune Harris is with listeners. Of course, RiRi’s vocals don’t hurt either.

But Taylor may be linked to the song, and thus Calvin, more than we ever imagined. Not only did it come out when she and Calvin were still together but TMZ reported this morning that Swift actually wrote the song. The story goes that at the time they didn’t want their coupling to distract from the music so she wrote under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg. And all was going swimmingly… until he disrespected her after the song was released.

“During their relationship, Taylor wrote the song, sat down at a piano and did a demo into her iPhone,” reports TMZ. “She sent it to Calvin, who loved it. They both went into a studio and did a full demo with Taylor on vocals and Calvin doing the beat.”

TMZ went on to say that the stars knew it would be a hit but “Taylor wrote it for Calvin and both agreed it was a bad idea to let the world know they collaborated as a couple… it would overshadow the song.” Makes sense. That is, until Calvin went on Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show and said he would never collaborate with Taylor on a song.

“You know we haven’t even spoken about it,” Harris told Seacrest. “I can’t see it happening though.”

Taylor was reportedly hurt, thought he took it too far, and the relationship was all downhill from there. A totally relatable breakup.

It’s a juicy story, but with all the Swift/Hiddleston/Harris conspiracy theories floating around we were a little skeptical. Until, in the plot twist of the century, Calvin Harris himself took to Twitter to CONFIRM the TMZ story. In a series of tweets he addressed the rumor (which we can now call fact), took digs at Swiddles and even brought up Taylor’s feud with Katy Perry. Looks like Harris can be savage.

Anyone else overwhelmed by the passive aggressiveness in this collection of tweets?

So what have we learned?

1.The TMZ story is true and Taylor Swift wrote and originally recorded the Calvin-Rihanna song ‘This is What You Came For.’

2. It’s important to Harris that we know he was also involved in the song’s production.

3. Calvin Harris knows how to take SHOTS.

We know that Tay’s reaction will not be as candid as Harris’ but we can hope. Or maybe she’s too busy working on her Hiddleston plot to worry about another ex trying to piggy-back on her fame. Either way, we’re pretty sure this thing won’t be going away anytime soon. Somebody pass the popcorn.
