LIKE GRANDMUM, LIKE GRANDSON

The night leading into Day 5 was Prince William and Duchess Kate‘s night away from George and Charlotte. Wednesday morning they got right into it, kicking their day off with a visit to the MacBride Museum to learn about Yukon’s history. Speaking of history, it was in 1959 when the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited the telegraph office, now part of the museum, and Will and Kate followed in their footsteps.

The Royals spent time with some local kids, even taking part in story time. They also helped send the telegraph office’s first-ever tweet, which was kind of awesome.

BABY LOVE

Upon leaving the museum, they joined a street party where they met with people in the crowd and sampled some local food. As per usual with the Cambridges, they gravitated towards their youngest fans. William even had to stop and comment on one baby’s fashion choice.

FROM WHITEHORSE TO CARCROSS

The Royals made their way by car to Carcross, where they took in the stunning landscape. The town has fewer than 300 people but they were greeted with lots of music, dancing and speeches. Will and Kate also managed to change clothes at some point, and went from dressed-up to perfectly casual.

PAINT PARTY

While learning more about the Inland Tlingit and Tagish totem project, Kate got her paint brush on.

And of course they checked out Carcross Commons’ new playground.

MONTANA MOUNTAIN HIGH

Will and Kate then headed to beautiful Montana Mountain, known for its mountain biking, where they watched the Boréale Warriors and S2S mountain bikers practice.

BACK TO REALITY

The Cambridges depart gorgeous Carcross Commons and Montana Mountain, travelling back to Whitehorse Airport for their flight back to Victoria, where they were reunited with their kids — who we’ll see on Day 6. Wheeeeeee!
